OWL is delighted to announce IRTE Ireland North Centre as our official event partner for OWL NI, which will be held from 9 to 10 October at the Titanic Centre in Belfast.
We are kicking off day one of the conference on October 9 with the Westminster Commission for Road Air Quality Emissions Reduction Workshop in partnership with IRTE Ireland North Centre. The day will see an expanded workshop with presentations from Barry Sheerman, social entrepreneur, sustainability champion, motivational speaker and Chair of OWL and the Westminster Commission for Road Air Quality (WCRAQ), and Jason Airey, Executive Director, WCRAQ.
Nathan Wilson, Account & Area Sales Manager, United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland for Allison Transmission, will deliver a workshop on how automatic transmission systems can enhance fleet operations and reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
Neil Cowley, a Research Fellow at Queens University Belfast who works on various research projects at QUB, will highlight the impact of outdoor air pollution on health in Northern Ireland and discuss how he created the Northern Irish Air Quality Dashboard. Neil is also the Regional Clean Air Champion for NI.
The ever-popular VIP networking dinner and drinks reception will once again follow this discussion in the evening.
On October 10, Charlene Quayle, Fleet Manager for Pivotal, will host the conference and exhibition and partnered with IRTE Ireland North Centre.
The OWL vehicle and equipment demonstrations and exhibitor meet-and-greet will take place on the iconic docks where the Titanic was built. Umar Sharif, Electromobility Insight and Support Manager for Volvo Trucks, will deliver the keynote presentation. Umar will highlight how his customers journey to zero-emission transport in the heavy goods sector. With a background in engineering consultancy and experience decarbonising public transport, he will bring a methodical approach to analysing operational data and maximising the value of customers’ electric HGVs. He will be sharing best practices, how to develop strategic plans, and highlight how to foster collaboration across the supply chain to accelerate decarbonisation.
Alwyn Campbell, MD of Advanced Energy Management, will deliver a presentation on hydrogen’s practical potential for the logistics industry. Mike Britt, Senior Consultant, MG Britt Consulting, will fly from the US to highlight the latest Advanced Safety Systems and how AI can improve driver behaviour. Following up on this topic is Liam O’Malley, who will discuss how AI learning in video telematics can make a real difference in enhancing driver standards.
The day will conclude with a panel discussion hosted by IRTE Ireland North Centre. Leading EV experts will reveal how to overcome the challenges of transitioning to EVs and setting up a charging infrastructure.
